Key Features of the Next Design V5 Major Version Update

1. Quick Start with Embedded Software Development Packages

Automotive-SPICE, a development process cultivated in the automotive industry [1] , we are now offering a new package for embedded software development that incorporates our company’s expertise. By providing a base package that systematizes the V-model process and its deliverables, we significantly reduce the time and cost required for initial setup when implementing Next Design, allowing design teams to experience the benefits of the system more quickly.

The base package includes a set of metamodels (structural definitions) and view definitions (representation methods). You can either use it as is to start designing immediately, or tailor it to your organization’s processes and target domain and implement it accordingly.

We offer a suite of ready-to-use packages featuring standard design methodologies such as UML/SysML, timing charts, flowcharts, DFDs, FMEA, FTA, and USDM. This allows you to combine the most appropriate methodologies for each stage—from requirements analysis to detailed design and failure analysis—and centrally manage all design information within a single tool.

In addition, the solution includes extensions that automate routine tasks on the development floor. You can immediately take advantage of features such as batch model generation from upstream processes, sequential ID renumbering, automatic identification of affected areas, and automatic aggregation of test results. In addition to C#, the solution supports Python—a language widely used in development environments—enabling a broad range of engineers to drive on-site improvements by leveraging design data.

2. Balancing Efficiency and Quality with AI-Powered Design Support

"DC Agentiqs," an AI agent platform developed by our company to support engineers across all stages of the development process [2] , we provide powerful support for tasks that previously relied on skilled experts, such as design leveraging on-site insights, design reviews aligned with specific perspectives, and domain-specific profile definitions.

Thanks to the UI integrated into Next Design, the DC Agentiqs chat window is seamlessly embedded, allowing you to leverage AI without having to switch between tools during your regular design work. The model you are currently editing is automatically recognized as context, enabling you to receive more precise AI design assistance.

For example, by having AI analyze existing design documents and requirements specifications to automatically generate models such as use cases, scenarios, and test cases, you can expedite the process from design exploration to test design. Additionally, by conducting cross-functional checks of design data in Next Design against review criteria and mandatory requirements to identify omissions and inconsistencies, you can reduce oversights during design reviews and help improve quality.

Furthermore, by leveraging AI to review design elements in the metamodel and incorporate them into view definitions, we can lower the barrier to defining profiles—a task that previously relied on experts—and enable the efficient definition of domain-specific profiles.

3. Improving practicality by incorporating feedback from the field

Based on extensive feedback from users of Next Design, we have enhanced its usability and practicality.

We have enhanced features related to frequently performed tasks and integration with external tools, including bookmarks for commonly used display states, improved usability for sequence diagrams, enhanced document output, import of customer requirements in ReqIF format, and support for NDGit submodules. By incorporating feedback from users, we have refined the user experience in detail, further improving daily work efficiency and comfort.
